Ontario,
I have the factory trailer light hook-up under my rear bumper. It is almost the same average 3 female - 1 male plug type, you normally find but is fitted into a factory "c" channel holder.

One of the female connections (running lights) had become bad and I thought I'd go to my dealer to get a new plug.

He looks it up on his computer and goes "WOW!" (i REALLY hate when they do that!)

I say "what?"

He says "thats going to cost you $485"

I just about filled my pants!!

I say "it's only a trailer plug?????!!!!"

Apparently FORD only sells this plug in a package with the complete rear section wiring harness.

Anyone want to part with the one they have??

Flat 4 connector right?? Go to Wal Mart, your local Advance Auto, Auto Zone or whatever you use to pick up car parts, go to the "towing section", select the flat 4 connector and some butt splices or the like, pay yout $10 at the register, go home cut off your old plug and attach the new one. Easier to swallow than the Ford parts BS....

Thanks Guys,

Ya I know there quite common, but the factory Ford one is made to slide in that "c" channel and hide away.

That makes it real nice, so you don't have a plug dangling down.

Oh well......back to the drawing board. ;)

My '98 Mazda B4000 Troy Lee had the same plug and "C" bracket design, but it was on a 1' pigtail with a connector on the other end, so that it could be installed if the owner wanted it. See if you can get the Mazda part. Then you can cut off the connector and wire it in. Heck-- a Mazda dealer might have them laying around-- the plug with pigtail, and the "C" bracket and a mounting screw were in a sealed plastic bag in the glove compartment, with an instruction sheet in case the owner wanted to install it.
