So I come home today and see a package on my front steps. I scurry over to see what it is. "Wow! A package from Wayne Foy!! Finally!" I exclaim this to myself. My wife is relieved that I will finally quit talking about not getting this and I won't have to hear about how I am too trusting towards other people. I pick it up and something inside is rattling around. I thought it was strange since the outside box is in perfect shape. No dents or dings in it at all. I hurry inside adn get ready to open it. I figure it would be a good idea to document the opening, as I had a problem before with something mailed to me being the wrong thing..and with the way things are going, I'd better snap some photos...

I cut the box open to find that there was a minimum of packing peanuts included. I figure that it is ok since it is probably packed in a foam inside the box. The SCT box looks like it has been crushed in one spot... Weird I thought since it is supposed to be new..

Quote from email from Wayne when I was making sure the XCal was new and not one he had laying around:

"Larry,

It is a new and unlocked Xcal2. Yes, I will be around to do the tuning, I am still a dealer in good standing with SCT, as is evident by me being listed on their web site dealer list. I also spoke with one of the owners today at length, and he assured me that all is well with me on their end."

End Quote.

So I remove the box from the packing peanuts and open it. This is what I found. A USB cable and the tuner. Isn't there an instruction manual or any packing foam??

So that is it. I pick up the tuner and examine it. There is a Warranty Void sticker over one spot on the tuner. It is ripped partially and look like it has been tampered with. (Peeled back and stuck back down) You can see the tear in the photo coming from the top starting in the 1 o clock position. Looks like a white line. Plus some of the plastic under the sticker in the 9-10 o clock position is broken and pushed back. It is still there, but folded in...

[Broken External Image]:

Plus, this side of the tuner (opposite the sticker) has a large gap that looks like it has been pried open. When I squueze it the gap lessens and looks like the other side of the tuner

So am I just paranoid that this thing is not new or what?? Is this the way they all come?? Am I supposed to hook up the USB to the my computer (laptop) to see if it is programmed or what?? I don't even know if he put any tunes on it or not....

That is what I thought would be in there. Something like that. What else was in there?? Was there a users manual or anything else??

Just keep in mind they do have to unpack it to tune it. I'll go look at mine in a little bit to ook at the warranty sticker and the side.

Nope. What you see is what I got. He did e-mail me saying that he did not put any tunes on it and needs me to send my PCM so he can get the tunes e-mailed to me. I asked him if he mistakenly send me an old one he had instead of the new one he meant to send...

My XCal2 came in a box with form-fitting foam like Tonka Trac's. Also came with a user's guide, USB cable, and SCT badge.

My first one was DOA and was replaced by Wayne pronto.

I am sorry. Looks like he used an old one he had laying around and shipped that.

I personally feel Wayne is a worthless scumbag and is nothing more than a crook.

I can download the software from the SCT website...it is just the point that he told me this is a new one, as it obviously is not.....

I have been holding my breath on this one..This whole thing with WFOY, reminds me of an issue we had here in my town with a customizing shop. It is family owned but as dad got older his son took it over. The work got lousy, orders screwed, people loosing money, unreliable service after work or sales. Come to find out, the son was puting all the money up his nose (coke)..Iam not saying that is what is going on..Just makes me think about what happened here....

I am glad to hear he is in good standing with his supplier. Too bad he is not with his customers.

Have the rest of the people who are waiting on product or service been helped? If not maybe SCT would care to hear how their dealer in good standing treats his customers.

Eddie-

He told me what was going on, but I'm not going to spread his personal business on here. It was nothing like that.

Fred-

His website stopped working, so there isn't a way to see who else is still waiting for service... They had posted thier requests on there as was requested...

I have a stack of these here new I just opened the box and this is how SCT has been shipping them to us recently.

Thanks! none of that in my box--no cardboard, no foam, no software, no instructions, and apparently a tampered with XCal (new??)

My guess is it was probably used on another vehicle. These also have a protective plasitic over the display it you look close in my picture you can see it. I would go plug it into the car and use it. But either way I would consult the source directly if you have questions.

yep...mine came just the way the one Torrie is showing did. Cardboard support, cable, disk, SCT Decal, and protective film over the screen. And it was handed to me by the man himself in Louisville.

My XCal 1 came like that, no cardboard, foam, or software, and I had to buy the cable to attach to the computer separately.

That's how the Xcal 1's always were.

This is an issue solely between the selling dealer and the customer not SCT. They don't ship us dealers products in that fashion as I pointed out above.

Also the next generation Flasher called LiveWire will make its debut at SEMA. I got to play with one a few weeks ago. They are indeed neat compared to what we have now.
