had a couple questions about my blue gauges.... heres a quick response

i put a small explanation on how in the forum under the last post about it.

these are the leds I used for behind the speedo gauges and HVAC controls (194 blue leds):

U can either try to sand the existing green film off the the back of the gauges/HVAC or do it the easy way and replace them with these:

and these for your speedo (I would still replcae the bulbs with blue and get white needles froma late 90's explorer for give it a good look)

as for the 4x4 swicth, you have to solder on seom 12V leds withe 470ohm resistors:

I love the look of your blue lites but I'm curious if you tried white leds. My new radio from a 2006 Navigator has white led's and I like that look.

I didnt try them, but in all honesty I would probably do them in white if I could so it again. the only problem would be getting the hvac white....

Curious why the hvac would be a problem to change to white. Does it have a green film like the dash speedo has or what problems do you forsee? I tried the link for the frosted leds but it came up with a error.

for some reason on some years of the ST's the film on the back of the HVAC is applied a bit differently and there is a chance you could take off the silver part as well. Thats why I just replaced the HVAC with the one from ebay thats white and already had blue film on it. The white matches the speedo now.

Thanks you Dallas. I believe I'm going to experiment with the white led's. I really love the way yours look and the 5 leds do a great job of relacing the standard bulbs. I still have the original black HVAC and maybe I could paint the outside or xerox the silver HVAC cover somehow like others have done on the dash cluster gages. I'll let you know how I make out. This should be sssweet! When you get a chance, post some more dash pictures if you have them.
