hey, i have a 3'' body lift on my sport trac and i am wondering how i can lift it more without going for the suspension lift( they want $3000 for the kit/install)i have heard people talk about putting "shackles" on it. can anyone explain how shackles work, how expensive they are, andcan i put the on AFTER i have lifted my truck??also how badly does this affect the ride quality??

The shackles can get you another 1.5-2" in the back and then you have to tighten the front torsion bolts to match the back. The shackles are like 60 bucks or so and real easy to install..

The torsion bolts then get cranked up to the desired height, and then get an alignment.

You may need a camber kit installed.

Maybe 400 bucks for all if you pay some one to do it.

One word of caution If you st is 4wd, just watch how high you crank the front end, you can damage the axles..

If 2wd, the sky is the limit...
