i usaully buy motor oil what's one sale such as shell chevron etc. and use motorcraft filters.but lately i notice a carmel colored creamery residue on the oil filler cap.i have a 2001 st. with a 120000 miles on it.and also it just started the famous 2-3 shift problem.i want to stick brakes shocks tires and front end aliement on it .my question is do you think the head gasket is going? anti-freeze level is always full.thanks edj.;)

Short trips in cold weather will cause moisture build up in the engine.

Your car likely has a smaller engine and radiator and therefore warms up faster than the ST. I am not saying that is for sure what it is, but there have been plenty of these posts popping up on F150online.com as well ever since it became cold out.

In my experience one of best and conclusive informal tests of head gasket failure is seeing small bubbles when you remove the radiator cap after the vehicle if fully warmed-up.
