Hey all. Question. I have an opportunity to get a touchscreen factory head unit with GPS out of an '08 Mustang California Edition for my '09 ST XLT. Would I be able to hook it up in my truck? If so are there any sort of mods to make it operable? Or should I just go with an aftermarket head unit instead?
I do have the steering wheel controls for my factory unit, which is the basic 1 CD player AM/FM stereo, with the SYNC system, without the factory installed subwoofer. Any sort of advice is deeply appreciated. Thanks.

A conversion to a factory touch screen / GPS is a very complicated process. I checked into it once with a company that specializes such conversions. Many wiring changes needed and you will need different steering wheel buttons. Modifications to the sync unit in the console will be needed. In order for the GPS to work, you will need an added antenna module. I was told that only units from '09 and '10 Sport Trac units would work properly (mainly problems with the illumination). So in a nutshell, very difficult conversion. After consideration I went with an after market unit from Crutchfield for my '10 ST. They can fix you up with a unit and a module that will allow you to keep your present steering wheel controls.

I figured that. That's the consensus on the Facebook Sport Trac page as well. I already bought an aftermarket unit to put in my truck.
