Our new place has 3 rooms with in-ceiling speakers, and then our main home theater setup. My current receiver has selectable A/B on/off for speakers. I don't really need a true zone receiver, but I'm pretty sure I need something to control these speakers. I really don't care if they are all on the same selector, meaning all three ceiling speaker sets either on or off, since the rooms have their own volume control. But it's my understanding these ceiling speakers are 8 ohm, and that is all my receiver supports so I can't wire them all to the B zone with risking damage to the amp.

So I'm thinking of getting the device in the link below (or one similar) it claims to have impedance protection, so does that mean I can hook all my speakers to this box and still play them at the same time with a final load on the amp remaining 8 ohms?

Any other suggestions?

JD- The speaker switcher you linked is made for your application.

Wire it to the B speaker terminals. Leave the amp protection switch on,

when driving more than two pairs at the same time.

Might be slight sonic degradation. For background music anyway, right?

Monster Cable has a similar model for about the same price. (SS4)
