I'm looking at getting a loaded 07 Limited 4x4...how much should I look at paying? Spec'd out on Ford's website it was 32,805 (don't need the nav stuff).

On a side note, I went to 2 Ford dealers to look at ST's, and didn't get approached by a single salesman at either place (walked all the way from the front to the back of the lot at the first, only to find 1 ST there...parked at the ST's at the second place, looked at all 10, and left). No wonder Ford is having problems....

That price is about right. If you use X-plan it will be your best bet if you don't feel like haggling price. If you need a pin, just post and ask. Someone on here probably has one you can use. Only things I didn't get on mine was the adjustable pedals, heated windshield, audiophile system, and Nav system. What color do you want??? Remember: Blue is the best!

Now--where is my Xcal????

Oh, I think I can find someone out there to hook me up with an Xcal2 :p

How much would X-plan lower it? I'll take anything if it gives me a better price :)

As for the "other" stuff, I haven't heard from Wayne in almost 3 weeks now...

X Plan does not necessarilly give you a lower price. Some argue that they can do much better negotiating on thier own. I myself wanted to save the hassle and just use the X Plan. using the plan you do not pay any dealer processing fees. I am friends with the salesman that I bought mine from, and he made 200 bucks off of the deal, so thier profit is pretty small compared to a non X-plan purchase. I think X plan is the invoice price plus some percentage (4%???)

The X-Plan price is 3% above "True Dealer's Cost". True dealers cost is lower than the so-called-invoice price because there is no "Hold Back" involved in X-Plan price. Dealers only get a flat $75 for the deal.

I bought my 2003 Sport Trac XLT Premium on the X-Plan and it had an MSRP of $26,190 before taxes. This price was already $1200 cheaper than any similarly equiped XLT Premium. I also had the dealer tint the front windows.

My X-Plan price was only $21,483 before taxes and includes $2500 in rebates for customer loyalty, retired militarty, etc that were available at that time. Your savings may be more or less than mine.

Keep in mind that with Xplan, you are not eligable for some of the rebates---- I had a coupon that Ford sent me for an additional $1000 off in addition to the $1000 customer cash, but only if I financed through Ford and did not use the X-plan. Also I could not use the 500 bucks military one because it was not eligable for x-plan. If you are looking into getting one, you may want to join the American Quarter Horse Assoc. That will get you a rebate. Think it costs like 35 bucks a year. You have to have been a member for 6 months though to qualify for the Ford partner rebate....

Daeron, as I said, try Edmunds and post back here the quote...X-plan is great, but I haven't seen it be that much lower than Edmunds TMV.

I just bought an '07 using X-plan, and the biggest advantage to me was the simplicity (no haggling). Some believe they can do just as well by some really aggressive negotiation, but I have bought a lot of new cars, and it is tough to get below "dealer invoice" - especially on a new model or redesign. I know the dealer invoice is not what they actually pay, but unless you know someone on "the inside", determining the true cost is vitually impossible for the average buyer. X-plan is arguably the best deal for the average buyer (X-plan is dealer invoice - 0.4% + $75). Not a monster savings, but a pretty fair price.

For those that have not seen it I have posted the actual pricing sheet for the 2007 ST in my library. This is from May and I think that the base price went up about $40 on each model. This is a great way to compare what the dealership is actually selling it for and/or to compare X plan. These are true prices, I know this because I was fortune to have an A Plan price, wish i could give it out to others! Good luck.

God bless that dealership. Nothing more irritating than having a salesman irritate you when looking at cars.

X-plan price is derived directly off the A-Plan price. It has nothing to do with the Dealer cost. IIRC, it is 3% above the A-Plan price, pplus $150.00 To get a rough estimate, X-Plan is right around dealer cosst, and on my Trac, It was less than dealer price.

X-Plan if you can get one from a member. Or, have them pull invoice. Any incentives are deducted from that price.

It's getting near the end of the month and they don't want to pay anymore interest on vehicles sitting on the lot going into October. Plus, Ford sales suck so you should get a great deal.

For your planning purposes, X-Plan will work out to Invoice as listed on the Build & Price and then you can apply the incentives available at the time of delivery.

Amen!

As a group, automotive salespeople suck way more than cops, door-to-door salespeople, telemarketers, mothers-in-law, motor vehicle licensing clerks, payday loan places, the IRS, or even Avalanche owners!

Amen brother! If I want to speak to a salesman, I will approach them. I certainly don't mind if they come up and introduce themselves and ask if I have any questions, but then, let me look around.

I don't mind salespeople who know their products and who are empowered to make a deal. Nothing makes me madder than a salesperson who knows less than I do about the products that he sells and then tries to blow smoke up my rear and lie to me.

Also, the salespeople who you make a deal with and shake on it, and then they have to submit the deal to the sales manager to get it approved-- I should have been talking to the sales manager in the first place if the salesperson is unqualified or unempowered to make a deal. When they tell me they have to get approval for the deal, I turn and walk out. That really makes me mad that they waste my time like that.

Gavin, (and others), I recommend you never negotiate a vehicle purchase face-to-face. Figure out the car you might want, go in for a test drive, and leave saying you aren't ready to make a deal yet. Then do your homework to figure out a good price, then call back the dealer and give them your starting offer and negotiate from there. It's real easy to be firm over the phone, and you don't "sit" there waiting for some sales lackey to go back and forth between you and the manager.

I have always been good at working my own deals. After 3 dealers, I drove out my '04 for $22k even $, with a msrp of $27,800.

I don't mind haggling, especially when I can make a cash transaction for the vehicle (they tend to like that for some reason). The bad part is no one around here has a V8 4x4 in stock for me to test drive :(

As for the salesman, come up, introduce yourself, ask for questions, then step to the side...anything beyond that is annoying and usually ends up making me angry :p
