Tom, just shut it off and re start so you can save 1 gallon of gas, and burn a $100.00 dollar battery and $150.00 starter...:lol::lol:

I also read a similar article today, and I think what they meant by idling, is something

to the effect of sitting in the parking lot and letting the vehicle run (especially

with the air on), while someone runs in to grab a pack of diapers or whatever,

for five or ten minutes. In this case, you would be better off to turn the vehicle

off and restart it. Or like in the old days, to let the vehicle warm up, as that is

not necessary with todays fuel-injected cars and trucks.

"Keep your tires inflated and switch to radial, if you haven't already."

Was this written during the Carter administration? Can you even buy a car -- or light truck -- with bias-ply tires anymore???

"...the most fuel-efficient speed for your car is roughly 55 mph..."

Probably true for most vehicles, but the best mileage I ever got from my old '90 Probe GT was 35.3 MPG during a trip in which I maintained 80+ MPH for over an hour.

Has anyone noticed if the tonneau cover makes a difference? Ford says keep it on for best MPG, but a quick check in the MPG logs seems to indicate better milage without it.

i know they say dont tailgate cause its just an a-hole thing to do, but wouldnt u think that would save gas like in nascar? i think its called drafting
