I needed to replace the front driver's side hub/wheel bearing at 73k miles. I got an estimate of $380 at a local garage.

I saw Woppy's write up, bought and oem assembly on Ebay for $116 including shipping. 1.5 hours later, all done, with $264 kept in my pocket. Thanks Woppy.:haveabeer:

FYI, if you don't have an impact gun, you can remove the center cap on the rim, leave the tire on the ground with a little weight on it, and use a breaker bar. The toughest part was beating the old assembly out after the 3 screws holding it on were removed. This took alot of beating!

Do you mind me asking for a link to the ebay part? Looks like I will be replacing my front drivers side very soon. Local auto stores want $215 for the assembly with the ABS cable.

Isn't it a great feeling when you do it yourself...

The money savings are great, but you KNOW the work was done right and you appreciate it much more...

For what it's worth, I've had to have my driver's side replaced once & my passenger's side replace twice . . . all within 36,000 miles

Fortunately for me, it was all covered under my original warranty . . . based on my experience so far, I'm planning on the driver's side going out again within the next 6 months . . . however, I'm no longer under the factory warranty, so it may be out of my pocket . . . so thanks for the heads up, I may be in contact

Most sealed bearings on FWD or 4WD vehicles are pressed in and should not be beaten off. Most shops will remove the whole spindle assembly and us a press to remove the bearing and press in the new one.

I don't have a bearing press, but have taken parts to a local shop and they will press in/out bearings and bushings for a small charge, which avoids ruining an expensive part.

You accomplished what you wanted to do, so all is well.
