Hope everyone made it through ok. From what I've seen, power outages and downed trees are the big issue right now. Word has it that power will be fully restored in miami-dade county by Nov. 12. Truly amazing how the winds would tear up one place and completely ignore another place right next door. Also it's pretty wild to drive on the Florida Turnpike at night. Pretty much pitch black with the exception of headlights. Kinda freaky.

Obviously, I made it through alright. Hope no one has too much damage.

Spaceman,

Glad you made it through OK. Floridians have this hurricane recovery stuff down pat, everything will be back to normal in short order.

PS: I finally smoked that Cohiba you gave me at the Atlanta meet. I was flyfishing on the Chatooga River in north GA and smoked it to celebrate a 25 trout weekend! Very enjoyable smoke, thanks again!

Lots of damage to my house, roof, fence, storage shed. No power but the generator is running just fine. Give a shout if there is anything I can do for anybody down here.

Oscar, Spaceman, everybody else OK?

STogie

Glad your okay. You actually made it without FEMA's help? Your setting a bad example for Americans when you take mater's into your own hands and not depend on the government for everything.

Your bank accounts were not frozen, lose all your assets, and had no money to live on?

Oh wait, that happened to those in NO. Thier bank accounts were frozen, they lost thier homes, family members, car, etc. They were unable to go to a bank to withdrawl money needed to live on.

Go figure...

Tom

Ed-glad to hear my dear friend is ok-as always-I was worried about you. A vendor of mine in Ft Lauderdale lost phone and cell phone service for about 3 days. Thankfully, he and his family are ok as well.

your friend always,

Lauren

I got power back today. The Trac took some damage from stupid big spanish roof tiles falling on the hood but mostly just dings and scratches. Our fence was really rocking but I went outside and held it up for awhile, lol. It needed some reinforcing afterward but we were the only house on the block that still had a fence up. Lotsa trees and a few fell on cars. This one was worse than Katrina for us but at least it was pretty dry.

we did ok also fence blew down but back up and patched

trees down everywhere power lines & phone lines also but luckily my

power came on thursday evening,so just returned generator to boss

and still have food and 10 gallons of water and have yet to stand

in one of these crazy lines.I actually was allowed by the police thismorning to go to the front of the gas line which was about 200 cars long as

i was in company van ,some times its good to be a phone man.

ayone that might need a hand just let me know.

I'm still alive in Boca. No power yet at my house. We just got it back today at work. In our neighborhood almost all of our trees are down, even the big ones. Some of them took out power lines. A couple concrete poles are down around town. At almost every intersection a traffic light is laying on the side of the road. Hopefully power will come back soon cause its pretty boring doing nothing everyday.

Well, got power back last night at 3 am. Have to admit, I was suffering a bit of withdrawal without the pc and the web, but it's incredible how easy it is to find other stuff to do. I've been busy as joe chainsaw cutting everything in sight. Never thought I would look forward to going to my day job again, but I am. I was fortunate enough to get a friends generator when they got power back on Tuesday so I've been kinda lucky to at least not lose all the perishables in the fridge. I'm already putting together my hurricane prep plan for the next year(s) and am going to get what I need so I don't have this happen again. My biggest concern were my fish of which I have four tanks and that would have been a tragedy for me, but I was lucky and have some good, GOOD friends. Also lucky to have a good girlfriend who has been helping me with tree cutting and trashing as well as putting up with my frustrations with all the idiots on the road.

Stogie, Oscar and any other SF ST'ers, if you need a hand with clean up let me know. Can't offer any financial help but will be glad to help cut up some trees and get them out to the curb.

Although the ST made it through fine, it now has some more battle scares. Man I hate trees in the road.

To all who sent a kind word or thought, thanks.

Buck, glad you enjoyed that cohiba, really is a great smoke.

Ed, we are so glad to hear that you have yet survived another hit. You and everyone in these hurricane striken places are in our thoughts and prayers. So tell me, how is life without TV & a PC? I don't think LaRue could survive.;):D

Rose, life is fine and probably more productive. I've been busy enough to not even care about them. too exhausted. It's funny, just got home (midnight), my block is the only one with electricity within two blocks of the main street and many more within the neighborhood. A couple of generators were stolen a couple of nights ago, so I was really happy to get the generator I borrowed back to it's owner. Some others have already been shot trying to steal generators from yards. It's been a fun week for sure. And I think you guys up in the cacalackis's get hit more than we do. The past couple of years have been rough for us down here but most of the time there's a lot of panic and little happens. There's going to be some interesting goings on here soon, looks like FPL may be investigated for not better maintaining the light posts, last I heard 16,000 are down which is more than double what Charlie managed last year. With the exception of the personal damage (homes and whatnot) I've always thought hurricanes were somewhat good for communities to calm people down and be a bit more generous, unfortunately, I've discovered there seem to be way more jerks around these days.

thanks, spaceman, we all made it thur ok. i am glad to see everyones ok, and getting power back. like wise if anyone needs any help just call. i just need roof tile installed and fence back up. cut up all the down tree and thru them away at work, could not stand pile of trees out side. take care Oscar

How long has everyone been without power? I still dont have it at my house and its been 8 days now. I'm really missing those warm showers and A/C.
