I bought an '07 tonight

Contacted the sales manager via email, told him about this and the reply from Olaf. They want me to bring it in early Monday, give me a loaner, and get it fixed ASAP. They said this is not a hard thing to do, replace the cam-phaser.

Yup, that is the exact noise that I had. At lease Ford is fixing them now. For a while Ford was telling the dealers to tell customers that it won't do any harm so don't worry about it. Then they finally released a TSB saying that 'persistant' customers should have the cam phaser fix done. The first fix they had out didn't work for most people, then in May of 05 they finally came out with a fix that works. Don't let them give you the old 'it's normal' routine.



If you have any more questions about it just go to F150online.com, go to the 2004-2006 body style section and search for cam phaser, lots of info. It sounds identicle to what mine sounded like.

Thanks Olaf. I emailed your reply about the cam phaser to the sales manager at the dealership and told him I really need to have this fixed. Honestly, my neighbors were coming over and telling me I had a nice truck but that it sounded like crap. I told the sales manager about that and said that this needs to be fixed ASAP and asked him if he could pull the right strings forme to get it done. Now, I have an appointment first thing Monday to have the cam phaser swapped out. The service manager said it shouldn't take that long. Sometimes, you get lucky and have people who really want to help you and you end up with really great service! Thank you Mr. Holliday at Koons Ford in Baltimore!!!

When I had mine done I dropped it off first thing in the morning and they called at 1 in the afternoon to say it was done. I have put on almost 20,000 miles since that repair and it has not come back. When I had the knock people were asking me if it was a F150 diesel. Good luck and keep us updated.
