THE DAY AFTER I GET ROSE'S A/C FIXED FOR @1200$,,,, MY VAN A/C DIED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping it's just a blower motor because I can still feel cold air "leaking" out of the vents. Switch doesn't work at all. I checked the fuzes and they are good, so maybe the switch or the blower. I'll know tomorrow.........:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

LaRue,

Does the blower not come on or not changing speeds??? It can also be some of the Blend Doors on the Airbox under the dash. Usually the doors have vacuum controled motors (look like a 2" flying saucer), so if you have a vacuum leak, that can cause the doors to not operate correctly.

The vacuum leak can be in the vacuum lines to the blend door motors, or even in the engine compartment. It's also possible that the main dash vacuum switch has a leak and is bad??

Some vacuum doors are on the outside of the airbox and can be tested with a hand vacuum pump, but sometimes there are vacuum motors that are inside the airbox and may require extensive disassembly to get to them.

Based on your description, it sounds like it is just a blower problem. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's just a bad blower motor switch or resistor block.

Richard, the a/c,,heat,,, fan,, defrost switch makes no noise like it is changing the blend doors... the fan does not work at all. I'll know more in the morning. I hope it's just a blower or switch problem

Jerry,, I'm a little sore when I sit down, :bwahaha:..but Rose's a/c works great! She's happy and you know how it goes,,, gots to make momma happy.....

seems they replaced everything but the hoses....................

LaRue,

The Blend Doors are not going to make much if any noise, especially if the fan is not blowing. You can hear the air change directions from defrost, to AC and heat, etc only because the fan is blowing. If you had your fan turned down to the slowest setting, you would probably only bearly hear the change in air flow.

The fan speed resistor is the first place to start.

LaRue,

I know the feeling. It's not just that one thing breaks...it's that everything breaks at the same time :angry:

Hopefully this is the end of your's and Rose's break downs for awhile.

All I can say is "Hang in there, and have nice cold one to relax this Labor Day weekend"...You earned it. :haveabeer:

I feel your pain LaRue. I had my first automobile AC repair ever, done about a month ago on my wife's 2003 Monte Carlo SS. Total of about $1300.00. Yipes, that was a hit. At least she has air though. We had some mighty hot weather that she drove it in before the repair. Now, it's cold as ice. Hope the repairs end soon for you.
