Before I even get rehired by the EMS department I retired from, I found that I have an assignment waiting for me. I used to spec, locate, and obtain vehicles for the department. The department has an aging 1987 K2500 4x4 crew cab pickup that's used to pull disaster trailers, offroad rescue equipment trailers, and serve as a back-up medic response truck. The city administrator stated that she would like to see it replaced with a new vehicle.
She also would like the new vehicle to be utilized more than the old pickup currently is. It'll probably be used as a primary medic response truck when not pulling trailers. The other response trucks are Ford Explorers. An SUV is preferred due to storage and access that's necessary for equipment. The new truck has to have a 3/4 ton chassis due to the weight of the trailers it'll pull.
So, I'm looking at a 2011 Chevy Suburban 3/4 ton 4x4. Any other suggestions?
