You have to be joking?

That dude is a racist Hugh.

I think Rand Paul actually believes the stuff that he's told to say too.

The establishment will never let a tea party candidate get the nomination. Period. That's a shame to a certain extent. There are a few things I like about the tea partys message, but the whole thing is co-opted by extreme right wing haters. That message has been too much a part of Paul's past. He has too often spoken with the unrefined rhetoric of these tea party racists. He seems to believe it too. He too often does not know when to back down. That to me shows inexperience and closed mindedness. Its a Republican trait. That message will not change, in my opinion, any time soon. They will face staggering losses in races nationwide, unless they pump in the outside cash. Paul evokes visions of say...Rick Perry. Someone who has been at the rodeo too long to not be a redneck. Someone like Romney who you could tell did not have any compassion for the poor. Could not differentiate between someone who is needy and someone who is a "taker" Zero chance in a Presidential bid.

I hope he runs though...because he will enable someone with progressive values to win..

Show me something racist from him or you're just trolling.

And I see you're still around. Why don't you post some scientific data to the climate change thread instead of a silly cartoon? Your act is old.

Testifying about mandatory minimum sentences before the Senate Judiciary Committee today, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) emphasized the racially disproportionate impact of the war on drugs:

"Barack Obama expressed similar concerns before he was elected president. Since then, not so much, although his attorney general recently took up the theme, almost five years into Obama?s presidency. More important, Obama has done little to address the injustices caused by the war on drugs"

Ok, so he's obviously not racist as Frank maintains...

Not a traditional Republican (thank God!), either.

What's the problem?

I watched Fox News... Kelly, Hannity, and O'Reilly... last night. The Republicans are doing it again. Instead of caucusing amongst themselves to limit themselves to three or four people to run for president, it's looking like there will be anywhere from 12 to 14 people running again. Don't they remember what happened last time? They had a stage full of a dozen candidates for the debates. While they were in pissing matches with each other, the unified Democrats steam rolled their way to the White House. They're going to whine about Benghazi, IRS, and other same old crap and it's going to turn off the electorate. It's already going to be next to impossible to beat Hillary. Why make it any more difficult by pretending not to be in agreement as a party amongst themselves?

They were all about Mitt last election from the very beginning. They will try to destroy Rand because he's not establishment and could actually get socially liberal voters who know how economics work.

Mark K. good insight there. It not only IS happening it will be a repeat. The good cop bad cop is reason we haven't gotten a third party president in.

Of course I say a lot of things to people to try and get them to think differently. Some will be staunch partisan voters no matter what kind of evidence you show them about whatever.. To challenge someone's upbringing/values set is touchy. They react harshly because that's the way they have been brought up, taught at church etc.. It is easy, sure, to do it over a computer where there is no face to face confrontations. But its no different than an intervention. Reality is tough for some.

Nevertheless, it needs to be done because any positive, fundamental, progressive change is difficult to gain here in America where there is a two (one) party system. The corporations are in complete control of our political system.. The thought process has to change or the working people here will all be at 7 bucks an hour. And that is socialism and it is being brought to us by the likes of Rand Paul and the 24/7 Right wing corporate agenda. Think outside the box here. What I say is tough to hear but absolutely true.

The power must come from the people. From the 99 percent of us who WORK for a living. Sure Unions have had issues over the years. But the change cannot be mandated by politicians...it wont happen. They stand nothing to gain. The workers must organize and FIGHT there must be a certain amount of fear/respect/equal footing. If people would think about the repeating cycles in American history they would know what I say to be totally true.

And one more thing...Paul has no chance. Sorry Hugh

If he is racist for being a tea party member.

What does that make black folks that are tea party members.

I know several black men and women from my church, that are members.

I live in the south, so imagine that.

Frank, I don't think you know anything about Rand Paul's issues.

Rand Paul and his father are Libertarians. Libertarians and Progressives are the same in that all they do is want to cut defense, give amnesty to Illegal Immigrants, and smoke pot while they watch the world fall apart around them. The only difference between them is Libertarians don't expect to get food stamp from the government while they watch the world fall apart. I watch Ron Paul on Russian Television RT the other day saying that Americans had no right to criticize Russia because we are just a bunch of hypocrites. That is the same arguments that the godless use against Christians, saying the church is full of hypocrites and thus have nothing to say to the world. This shows me he has the mind of the godless, just like most Libertarians I know. Libertarians are anti-Israel and pro-abortion just like the godless. They hide among the Tea Party but they are not patriots, and would be glad to see America fall apart because they see no value to a Christian nation. They should go back to spitting the Progressive vote like they did back in the 80's rather than splitting the conservative vote.

You can have Chris Christie or Rick Perry as your candidate, Timmy. You can also have Hillary as your next president.

Reagan is dead and so is that era. Get over it.

Timmy I think Libertarians see no value in a Christian nation because we do not have a Christian nation. I believe our nations may benefit form being more Christian-like...but we are not, or never will be a "Christian" nation.

Sorry

You can't legislate morality.

Odd that you can legislate imorality though. Only what is PC for the season...

Religion put aside. Some things arent' natural. they might be called perverted by some of our ancestors.

We are in a situation of calling good bad and bad good.

Everbody gets ofended. When some one thinks differently. They go and get laws passed. That steps not only on the first amendment. Also your natural right to think or speak different.

Where the hell does' this PC madness stop.

I cant speak of being proud to be caucasion of Scottish decent. without being called a racist. I cant speak of my personal beliefs. Without being called phobic.

I always thought a phobia was being afraid of somthing. Not afraid, I just have my own thoughts and rules for my life.

If that is legislated away. We might as well become a nation worse than comunism. Elect a dictator, call his or her family royal. Let that family rule us forever under totalitarism. With NO input from the citizens. Let our kings forces kill us on the spot, for what they think is, a Traitor....There will always be those that would love that job.

It used to take a century or two, for society to forget how ugly, society can get.

IMO, it is going to take less than that, in the USA. The only advancement we have made is technical. man to man, woman to woman. There is nonthing but hate, jealousness and control to think alike...There are zealots in all walks of life.

Some would like to say the church is trying to control. That is a group of zealots. The true church lives by a set of morals, but still gives mankind a choice of there own destiny.

Personaly, I dont think it matters how you vote. I see our grand expeirment as a wash.
