Some interesting observations on the different High Series Consoles offered for our Sport Tracs. I have two and both have some differences. One has both the radio and ac controls and the other just the ac controls. I highly recommend if you are upgrading to the high series from the basic console to try and find one with only the ac controls in the rear. BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE WIRES!!..lol The one with only the ac in the back has four wires to the harness. The other has like 2 dozens wires to it and is the one in the projects section on this website. I am installing the one with just the ac controls in the rear and wiring it looks to be pretty straight forward. Like i said, there are only 4 wires to this main harness. Two are clearly marked for the power point on the side. Easy to hook up the two. Just hook them up to your old powerpoint wiring that was in the ashtray assembly. The wires are colored exactly the same. The last two go to the blower on the rear. One is red with a black stripe. There also is a red wire with black stripe that was connected to the light for the ashtray that is no longer in use now. I am hoping I can connect them pretty easy. That leaves me with the last wire on the harness. It's yellow. I will try and figure out where to connect it next.

I took some pictures of both consoles and harness connectors. Not sure how to upload those on here.

I provided a link to my photobucket on the high series console with just the ac controls on the rear. I also took a picture of the harness connection that is only 4 wires. Yes it is gray in my tan interior..lol. But I think it looks fine with all the gray accents inside the Sport Trac.

Thoughts?

I had seen photos of the A/C only consoles but have not seen one in person. Ford sure could have helped us, and probably themselves, out if the hadn't put that RCM on the transmission hump!

Amen to that! Found out the hard way..lol They must of had an option group that gave you the high series console with only the ac in the rear. This was out of a 2003 and it was loaded to the hilt. Strange no radio controls for the rear. I am glad there are some out there. Makes it easier.

I still don't get how the AC is supposed too come out of the bottom vent where the heat would come from?? I will be doing this swap soon as I found an explorer sport console for $15.00 I love this salvage yard. Got all brackets screws everything. This came with the radio option also.

After doing a search I have found that the ac not coming out through that plastic adapter is common. I have emailed someone else who had that problem and what was his solution. When I removed the old plastic plug, I put my hand up in there and could feel some sort of flapper. I opened it and ac came out. I put in the new adapter and there was no ac. Something is not correct.
