Ipod connection

Whats the best way (or if anyone has done this) to hook up my ipod straight to the stock stereo. Like i know they have all those FM transmitters and some of them are good but they dont get the best sound quality to my jl audio sub. I still have the stock 6 disc pioneer ford system. 6 disc still isnt enough for me. if anyone can help me thanks.

I see you have a 2004. Assuming you have the satellite radio receptacle, which you must, use this:

I have the unit + an auxiliary cable instead of the iPod cable. It seamlessly works with the Ford head unit.

I'm having this sinking feeling that there is no way to connect an auxiliary connector to my 2002 stock 6-disc cd changer, as I have no satellite button, and I don't believe that I have the ability to "control a separate cd changer via a remote cable" as the logjamelectronics website mentioned.



Am I out of luck? I'd upgrade the head unit, as burning mp3s to standard audio format is an annoying step, but most head units, in addition to being heinously expensive, don't have the green coloring which is essential IMO.

Actually Kevin, you're not out of luck. My 2002 has an ipod hardwired to the stock Pioneer 6 disc cd changer with an ipod2car interface. The interface has one side with an ipod connection and the other has a stereo interface that can be swapped out for the appropriate make and model car. The ipod2car plugs in the back of your stereo and then your existing connector piggybacks on the ipod2car connection. I can use the cd controls to skip forward and back and also go ffwd and rewind. It also requires power so just tap into the cigarette lighter for that. I have the cup holder/ center console unit and I ran all the cables underneath that. I had to drill a 3/4" hole in the center armrest and ran the data cable in there. I can leave the ipod in the armrest but I also left enough slack so that I can pull out the ipod and control it that way. It also works fine with the iPhone, though you get a message stating that the accessory was not meant to work with the iphone and it prompts you to turn off the radios. I just say no and it works fine. The music even fades out for a moment when you the phone rings. Good luck! When I get some time I will try to diagram or photograph this for others.
