Is the ST going to be a Nissan?

Ford is a much better match with Nissan then GM and Nissan. GM has too many duplicate models, and in fact brands, that would require a major overhaul, an overhaul that even the finances of Nissan/Renault may not fix. GM is a huge risk to Nissan, and chances are, a risk too great. Now, Ford isn't quite as risky and aren't in as much trouble as GM. Ford doesn't smell of a spring flower, but they aren't oozing of enough red ink to scare away suitors. Ford has plenty of duplicate models themselves, and they need to drop some of thier brands, which would really help thier bottom line.

No matter who Nissan and renault choose to go with, Ford or GM, it will do the American company good. Renault has a knack for putting lots of good and innovative technologies into a car...they just can't seem to build a car worth buying (looks and reliability still plague them). Nissan makes some of the best engines around, know how to build a decent car, but outside of a few high-performance models, don't really build anything exciting.

Imagine, a Corvette with a decent interior? or a Mustang with a decent suspension? Or, in fact, an interior in any car that has panels that line up and don't creak. In the defense of the Americans, they have made major strides on those fronts in the past few model years. A few model years too late, however. It'd be nice to see an American car that takes a few steps forward, with taking at least one back at the same time.
