I just got a program that will convert my mp4 (ITUNES) to mp3. I can adjust the kbps settings to 8 different settings... the higher the setting, the larger the file. Which would be the best of the group: 32, 64, 96, 128, 170, 190, 220, 320.............. I converted 1 song into 190,220,320 and could not really hear a difference...... Works like a charm for $14.90

LaRue,

If the MP4 source file is encoded at 128 KBPS, encoding at 320 will only be as good as the 128 source is.

If you are like me, slight loss of hearing from work, you are not going to hear much of a difference. Encode what works best for you and go for it.

Remember, the final product is only as good as the original source. If the original sourcew is crap, you aren't going to make it any better without remastering it.

I don't know what "their" encoding is, but it came from ITunes Store... 190 sounds just as good as 320 or the 200, so 190 it is. It's mostly going on Rue's IPOD anyway. Have fun in LostWages Nevada:D

All of my songs are encoded at 192 kbps. I think that it minimizes the file enough not to compromise the sound quality, but there is only a slight difference.
