I don't know if you have a "consumers kitchens and bath" by you, They are good and cheep..

The home depot and Lowe's stuff is ok, But the quality is not there...

JohnnyO that is so true. What i really need i think is someone to desighn it maybe to maximize the limited space we have, find somewhere we can by the cabinets at wholesale per say and a cabinet installer looking for a side job.Yeh i know good luck.

My Home Depot has three levels of "In Stock" cabinets. Fairly low end, middle area, and a pretty nice upper area that are Oak built. I put in a below cabinet microwave. To do so, I needed to get a shorter cabinet above my stove. Took my door off the original cabinet and went to Home Depot to have a cabinet built, (wanted to match the door the best I could).

To build it was close to $200.00. He suggested I look at their pre-builts in Oak as that is what my cabinets are. Went one row over and found an almost exact match. Cost $57.00. All we had to do was stain it to match. It fit perfectly and looks like it has been there for ever.

Very happy with the end result.

Home Depot or Lowes, you're looking inexpensive and the quality is about par as anywhere else. The doors will make the difference.

Craftmaid is a decent brand.

Unless you employ a cabinet shop to custom make your boxes, everything I've seen from volume cabinet makers is pressed wood for the boxes, and I've been in several high end kitchen stores, Expo, etc.

I live in NE Ohio and have worked for Kraftmaid Cabinetry for 10 years. We are the biggest and the best...hands down...a higher quality product that is made to order with more choices in door styles, finishes, colors, features, and construction options (our cabinets are 1/2 inch ply const with solid birch dovetail or dowell drawer boxes...NOT presswood ) than any other semi-custom cabinet company in the world. You can see our cabinetry on shows like "Exteme Makeover Home Edition" and judge for yourself. Talk to a designer at Lowe's or Home Depot and they will tell you that Kraftmaid is the way to go.

Haas is a excellent cabinet company. Rambo is a custom company. I would recommend going with a kitchen and bath place rather than HD or Lowes. Their cabinets are not built to last. I replace my HD cabinets with Haas and 2 years ago and still look new.
