"Many of the wars of this (20th) century were about oil, but the wars of the next century will be about water". Thus spoke former World Bank Vice President Ismail Serageldin in 2003.

We are all worried about paying $2 + a gallon for gasoline. While we aren't paying attention, them "feriners" are buying up the water rights to our country. We take for granted having cheap, clean water at our tap whenever we need it. But the future will see us under the thumb of someone else for the real staples of life. What is it worth to you to have a gallon of clean water? Do you think you'll want to fill that swimming pool if it costs you an extra $500 to do so?

We are already used to paying $1.50 for a bottle of "Ol Tepid"

And it's not just the water, either. Look who really owns the Power company that you pay every month. The days of wine and roses will soon be whines and neuroses.

Where I live there is more than enough water to go around. Hmm, maybe someday that will give people a reason to move back. So are the furriners going to ship water overseas with ocean-going tankers or what?

Yep. In Kuwait fuel is dirt cheap, yet a litter of water is like $4 bucks. I'll be invading Norway for water next trip probably (at least the women are better lookin)
