That's what I bought, prm.

The Panasonic Viera G-10 Plasma mentioned by myself and by Nobelman in above posts.

I don't see any flicker, as Nobelman did.

"For the "next" platform, check out internet connected TV's. When you can change the input to your broadband connection to get movies on-demand from Netflix, Hulu, and Vudu, that blu-ray player and cable box (or at least HBO) come into question. This will be another feature that gets hyped up with an inflated price tag. Currently 46" LCD's with LED and a internet jack are up in the $1700 range, when they should be in the $999 range."

I paid $1400 for the G-10 50 inch plasma. The picture is magnificent, as most plasmas are. And I love the way it pluggs into the house internet network. It opens up a whole new world of entertainment and information.

I have opinions relative to both LCD and Plasma. I also own both LCD and plasma displays besides the LCD projector in the basement and DLP display in the family room.

My opinion is based on not only what I percieve to be best, but also what IS BEST for the room the display is meant for.

But I digress as this thread dictator asked only about LCD & plasma "panels"

Not a very good sampling of opinions when the opinions are limited IMHO!!!

Probably my mistake NOT including ALL types of TV's, at least "flat panels".

Was a big fan of DLP's until the price of comparably sized flat panels decreased so much. (And the very high price of the 6000 hour replacement lamp @ $250+) Same goes with ANY RPTV using the user replaceable lamp)

The Samsung LED TV's have great potential although it is basically a "quasi" LCD panel.

Same goes for Sony's OLED technology despite the "to half brightness" life expectancy of an unbelievably short 10,000 hours or less. (And the ridiculous prototype price tag)

As previously mentioned, my personal choice is a Pioneer Elite Pro-111HD Plasma Display.

I did get a dealer "accomodation price. If I hadn't, I probably would have purchased a Panasonic or LG at dealer cost at almost half the price of the Elite. Thanks for the great reading guys. ALL comments regarding ALL TV types are very welcome! :)

Again, don't confuse LED and OLED.

LED refers to the backlight and you can read all about it here http://www.cnet.com.au/led-vs-lcd-which-is-better-339295938.htm

OLED is a display technology which is not ready for the mainstream. I think there is only a 13" model available for sale. You can learn about that here http://www.cnet.com.au/videos/please-explain/please-explain-oled-22474852.htm
