leather wrap steering wheel

hey everyone, my leather wrap on the steering wheel is quite dingy these days. I was thinking about taking it off. has anyone done this and what does the steering wheel look like under it. my wheel is tan, when I take it off will it still be the same color?

I bought a leather cover at Walmart and covered mine up. It looks good and I like the bigger grip.

I don't think the original cover will come off very easily, but there is a sew-on leather cover available at some auto parts stores. It's a bit of a pain to install, and takes some time, but the results are quite good. I found mine at Pep Boys. There were two sizes. I think the larger one should fit over the exisitng cover, and it is quite thin, so it won't bulk your steering wheel up. I don't know if any other colors are available, but black works for me.

I fixed my steering wheel problem by buying a new car with a real leather steering wheel cover
