The light behind the dash are all just regular lights. Only the window switch buttons and radio uses LEDs. You remove the instrument cluster from the truck, and spin the lights off from the back side and replace them with the color of your choice. The proper size is 194. However, the bulbs are clear and the green coloring comes from a film on the back side of the actual gauge faces, which means dissaembling the instrument cluster to sand off the film, then putting it back together and hoping you put the needles back in the right spot.
 
Look at my library, I did it, not hard just alot of work. I now have blue gauges (pics are a bit outdated... they look even better now cause i took the white needles from a late 90's explorer)

I'm surprised that all manufacturers haven't switched over to LED dash lighting. The emitters are cheap, last almost forever, extremely resistant to shock.



I've got several LED flashlights that will put a crappy Maglite to shame.
