My dog sleeps inside, but during the day he absolutely loves to be outside and won't come in, even when it's -10F. The picture may be a little misleading though about how long the dog has been left outside (could've snowed for just 15 min or blown off the roof). IMO some dogs are warm enough with their fur that they'd be fine otu there. My dog has come in from outside with as much snow on this dog and he was only outside for 30-45 minutes and was happy as can be.

I have a spoiled 14 year old starling. I got him when he was 3 days old. He's only been outside once and that's when he got out when I opened my patio door. I climbed a 60 foot tree to retrieve him. He's my best friend. So smart. He knows human words and I understand his starling sounds.

I know Andy, but still I see it all to often around here with the heat in SC. I know it has to happen in cold too. I just did a house repo today and the owners abondoned 3 dogs in the back yard CHAINED UP! I don't know how they were still alive. I love animals and this just burns my ass.:soap:

The heats way worse than the cold, especially if they don't have shade. Anyone who abuses their animals deserves to have the same thing done to them :fire:

Last year I had some assinine renters for nieghbors. I would have to sneak into their yard to fill their dogs'(pit-bull) water bowl. Also I fed her sometimes. All I had was cat food and scraps. When I would go out back. She would run to the fence line and whine until I petted her. She would get soo happy to get attention.

They didnt treat their kids' much better. The mother was always cursing the kids and the dog. Then me after I would'nt loan them any $$, and told them why. Im gad the lanlord only gave them a 6 month lease. I repeorted on them about the dog. The landlord reported them to CPS...Wish I knew the outcome.

We have 6 dogs, they are the family.

I modified the 01 Sport Trac to accommodate them, canopy on the box with insulation, plywood platform with 2X2 stringers on the floor with carpeting on the box floor and an axillary heater to keep the temperature comfortable. It gets pretty cozy with 3 dogs in the back seat and three in the box.

We get -40 or lower here in during January and February, our dogs go out, do their business, go for a quick run around the yard and then back inside. I can't even imagine leaving the dogs outside in frigid winter weather or the opposite, scorching 95 - 100 F summer.

I love dogs.

I know what you mean....I have a Chihuahua (about 14 years old now. We got her from a friend of my daughter's. This young woman was divorced and raising 3 kids and the father was not providing any child support. She lived in a little old farm house at the end of a dead-end road. People would dump their unwanted dogs there and they would end up at her house. She was doing her best to feed about 12 dogs. She would just put out a big bowl of dry dog food and water. The Chihuahua was the smallest and the only dog she would let in the house at night.

My wife gave her $50 for the Chihuahua and told her that she needed to stop feeding all those dogs and worry more about feeding her kids.

When we got the Chihuahua, her ribs were showing because she only got to eat when she could get to the bowl of food if the bigger dogs did not notice her.

When she got to our house she had her own bowl of food, but she had been starved so badly in the past, she would hoard food by hiding it in her bed, and stealing food from the other dog's bowl. She fattened up rather quickly and we eventually had to put her on a diet to control her weight. It took about 5-6 years to get her to adjust her eating habits and realize that she would have food to eat everyday.

Now I have another Chihuahua and they both get along, are a normal weight, and it does not matter who eats out of who's bowl If they want more, and the other dog left something in the bowl they will eat it eventually eat it as a midnight snack..
