Mercon or Mercon V

quick question MYST'ers



I need to add some PS Fluid, it calls for Mercon but can I use Mercon V ????

Not sure which to use with P/S, but I THINK that Mercon V is synthetic, while Mercon is not... Others can confirm if I am right or wrong.

ST power steering is MERCON V !!!!!!



Ford sells the tranny fluid and PS fluid in the same bottle....

That is correct. Mercon has been replaced by Mercon V.

Mercon V has replaced the old Mercon and is a superior substitute for Mercon. Mercon V that Ford puts in vehicles at the factory is a semi-synthetic but there are other brands of Mercon V that are 100% synthetic and meets or exceeds all Mercon V specifications.
