I just ordered the Xcal2 from wayne foy, hypnotic illusions (site sponsor).....he shipped on saturday 5/12/06 US Priority Mail, on monday it was delivered !!!!!
I also have a 2001, the xcal and drop in KN filter are the only mods so far...
as far as gas milage goes, you are about average... looking forward to see what I get with the XCAL installed
I have got a 2001 4wd and am currently getting about 21MPG highway...dunno city...most of my driving is highway.
Only mods are a MAc intake, and the Underdrive pully....
The most impact you can have on your mileage is driving habits..........Don't punch it coming out of traffic lights, keep it under 70MPH.......that sort'a thing
15 to 16 in town is average for the ST. You can spend money on all kinds of mods but your never going to improve it more than a mile or two. Laying off the gas peddle will do the same.
I have an 04 2wd and I get about 18 mpg in town overall. When my wife drives the Trac she gets 16 mpg or less. It's driving style. I'm easy on the gas, coast when I can and don't "hot rod" the truck. My wife drives it like it was her Grand Prix. I just flashed the CPU with the 87 oct economy program using Xcal2 bought from Wayne. On my first tank of gas so no data to report. But, I will report and it will be accurate.
With all the mods I have i get 16-17 around town and thats being pretty hard on the gas. If i take it easy i get close to 19mpg and on the highway I have recorded over 27...
Driving style, Maintenance, and mods makes all the difference..
Though my escort that I kick the crap out of gets 27-29 religously...
One other factor might be the differential gear ratio that you have. Those with a lower gear ratio might see a bit lower gas mileage than those that have the higher axle ratio.
