I'm tossing around the idea of taking a nice long trip from CA to AK. I'm wondering if any of the military members have ever used the base planes to transport themselves and belongings for a vacation? I'm wanting to either fly up to AK and ride down or vice versa which ever is easier if even possible. So I'm looking to have them ship my motorcycle up.. any input?

I'm almost 100% sure that it's not going to happen for you. Even if you were Active Duty military and flying "Space A" and catching a 'hop' (as they're known) you still wouldn't be able to do what you are inquiring about. Too much liability, haz-mat with the fuel, battery, oil, etc. Even a trash-hauler (cargo/transport plane) is prohibited from shipping personally owned transportation. You'll need to look at non-mil shipment options.

they definately will not carry your motorcycle. i served 21 years in the air force and spent my last 10 years working on C-5 transport aircraft. when i few space a years ago it took 5 days to get out and another 4 days on the return. with all the stuff going on in iraq, the flights are busy caring troops and cargo.. not much room for space a people.. here are 2 helpful sites

You'll have to use an outside source for shipping. Too many restrictions on military flights and "vacation" isn't going to matter to them, only PCS.
