It's film. I'm a dealer for it, but I'm not a site sponsor yet, so I'll shut up now. :)

The blue film makes the light more white, similar to a blue PIAA/Silverstar bulb. It's also available in yellow, smoke, clear, and a light tint.

Blue filters make the light more blue, while reducing the yellow. Therefore, more white.

That's true. But I'm willing to sacrifice a few lumens for the protection and whiteness. Hell, my truck is damn near wearing a condom as it is.

Dingo,

No, filters does not make light "more white". White light is a collection of all colours; technically, all wavelengths of the visible spectrum. Add a filter and you are restricting what colours you see from that light. Therefore, the light cannot be white as some colours have been filtered out. The filters cause only blue light to be emitted from the housing, reds, yellows, greens, and violets are all filtered out, not just yellows.

You're correct in theory. It's a blue film, not a polarizing single-color filter. Due to the color of a tungsten filament burning inside a halogen cloud, more yellow light is emitted than the other colors. The blue film filters it partially, making the white light more noticable. If it's such a bad thing, why are all reputable light bulb manufacturers making "super white" bulbs, all of which are composed of blue glass around a standard filament? I'll take pics of the light output on the garage door when it's dark.

*shakes head*

In the first couple pix I couldn't tell exactly what you were referring to. The one with the lights on, does show a little bit more. I'd like to see a dark picture and just check it out. Curious, did you do the fog lights as well? And if not, planning too? Or is it not needed?

Sal, thank you. That was my thought.

I think it would look great on a white one.

As for whiteness, here are night pics. shvdnlayd, I'm not sure what you're asking.
