Multiple Mis-Fire

I've got a 2001 Sport Trac 2wd v-6. I recently changed the EGR valve and now the engines shakes and it kicks out a code of "Multiple Mis-Fire". I checked the coil packs and everything looks fine. Could I have disrupted the Timing or is there something I'm missing? And if it is timing, anyone got any tips on how setting the chain?

Did you knock off something when doing the work ???



Also check all your plug wires to make sure they are on tight.



NO need to set the chain, I doubt it is the culprit, and it would probably just break and not run out ....

I echo what ToddZ said, and perhaps reset the computer by pulling the neg off of the battery for a half hour.



Could just need a reset......

Maybe it was the DPFE sensor not the EGR that is bad..

Hope you have high speed internet but here is all of the Ford manuals for the OBD systems and part of that concerns random misfires. Hope this is helpful.
