I only caught the tail end of the news earlier. It appears that Toyota got caught cheating with some engine mods and aerodynamics..Hmmm what a way to break into an american sport.

Link... I think this is the same deal...

Yeah, it's pretty sad when their first run into Nascar is a failure. I was hoping Toyota would kick some arse, but they failed miserably..

I'm a Nascar fan from way back but when anything get's that big(money wise), most everyone cheats if they think the chances of getting caught are low or if the penalty's are a small fraction of what is gained if they win! Evolution always leads to corruption for the money's sake. Hell, the car of the future is looking more like a closed wheel Indy car than a stock car. Guess that's why i still like to pull out an old 70's race and watch it.

Doesn't suprise me one bit.

The real question is was it Toyota cheating or the team owners/managers/drivers cheating?

It seems that cheating was rampant in the Sport and now NASCAR is trying to clean it up. A lot of people have been caught the past few weeks. Toyota being new to the sport, probably just hired some experienced team members and then got caught up in the issue by default. I'm not that familiar with the sport, but weren't some Ford or Gm crew chiefs involved too? Should that reflect on Ford or Chevy? They just build the car and sponsor the teams. They don't drive or maintain the vehicles.

By watching the update on tv this evening, it's easily revealed that waltrip is not the brightest person Toyota could've handed a team to. Stuff in the intake manifold, TWICE!!

What a dumbf***! Nascar should suspend waltrip indefinately. And Toyota with their deep pockets should hand the keys of ownership to a quality driver with a top notch crew chief. They have nobody except some has beens & never has beens.

Looks like Steward could waltz to his next title.

Remember what happened last year when a crew chief was thrown out of the garage before the Daytona 500? Yeah, his driver went on to with the D-500, Brickyard 400, and the Championship...

Everyone cheats in NASCAR, but not everyone gets caught. Heck, the Dodge and GM boys were drilling holes in their cars to make them more aerodynamic....which of course means the GM and Chyrsler are inferior cars and that they hired the dumbest people to run their NASCAR teams.

Give me a break....Toyota is just what NASCAR needs. Toyota gets all the rednecks and loyal-blind Americans in a ruckus, who then get loud and prove how little they know whilst making themselves look pretty ridiculous, in other words, enjoyment for the rest of us.

i'd love to say Toyota cheated but it was the team. Waltrip doesn't have enough confidence in his driving ability to get in the show. I don't have enough confidence in his talent. WoW! Did i just agree with waltrip? lol. It'll be the only time.

Matt Kenseth, Scott Riggs and Elliott Sadler drive fords right?? them along with khain got busted as well for CHEATING..... holes in the fender wells.... wonder what substance they found in the toyota intake... we probally will never know.... to many others would try it if it gets out...

Uh, Kenseth is the only one in that bunch that drives a Fusion. Riggs and Sadler drive Dodges.

As far as Mikey Waltrip is concerned, he owns the team he drives for. Dale Jarrett also drives for Waltrip's team. Toyota had to start somewhere and they could not lure any real quality teams in the first year. I suspect that will change as the contracts some of the better teams have with other manufacturers expire. That could include Roush and Penske...:(

this is why i don't follow nascar anymore.... their rule that states " detrimental to the spirit of racing' is an open check that they can use to make up rules as they go along.... they are not even stock cars at all anymore. the engines are a toyota design, and the bodies are identical, just different stickers... it's been going downhill ever since earnhardt passed. he would say " Shut up and race!!" JMHO

Shoot, they were cheating a whole lot worse in the 70's, NASCAR is just getting better at catching it. Look up Smokey Yunick's 7/8 scale Chevelle or Junior Johnson's "Banana Car" sometime.
