Need help for CEL

Okay so on the way home from work the dreaded CEL came on. I got the code read and it is P0442-Evap Control leak detected. Can anyone tell me where and what I can check myself before I have to get it looked at?

two of the easier, most common problems are a leaking/untight gas cap or one of the hoses above your spare tire came undone. Check those first.

Have you done anything to your truck lately?



When changing my shocks I had lowered the evap canister above the spare, code came up shortly after. I applied some dielectric grease to the o-ring on the right rear breather hose, put it back together, been fine since, no more CEL.

Ditto to winc....I also had that code after I cleaned my throttle body and one of the hoses didn't want to seat correctly. Had to use a zip tie to tighten up the connection/seal.
