Ford's dropping hints about a new model reveal on their Explorer Facebook page on Wednesday. Could it be.... A Sport Trac?

I doubt it, but one can dream... sigh...

From the video, I'm guessing it's a performance model (Sport/SVT/SHO, etc.)

I don't think it's another truck.

The comfort is there. Utility and performance are a joke when talking about the new Explorer.

That said, we'll be considering a new(ish) Explorer of Edge next year.

I'm pretty sure is the V6 EcoBoost. That thing will fly. The F150 is heavy and still moves really well with that 420tq. That SUV will fly. I wonder how it will stack up against super suvs like the Jeep STR8.

Indeed. When the time comes to replace my current Gen 1 Trac, if I can't find a decent Gen 2 Trac, I'll probably get an Edge, or maybe Explorer.

I remember when explorers were cool... now they are geared for soccer moms and compete with the freaking mini vans on the market... Ford really messed up when they changed it.

People have been saying that about the Explorer since the demise of the Bronco.

The switch over to fully independent suspension was definitely the end of it being a truck, though. Sorry, Gen2 owners...don't pretend you actually go offroad, or could.

Not all Gen 2 owners...:driving:

Ok, that's one. You got me there. I'd love to see more guys go that route with the Gen2. It's being done on the Explorers a good bit but Gen2 ST owners just don't seem interested in that sort of thing.

Looks like they dropped an EcoBoost V6 in the current Explorer, tweaked the suspension and appearance, and created the Explorer Sport.
