Well my Garmin 330 finally stopped connecting to ANY satellite. Garmin told me to trash it. So I got the bare minimum that I need for my work van. The Garmin NUVI 1100. 85$ at Wally World. Works just fine.

The Nuvi 1100 provides basic turn-by-turn guidance with the ability to prioritize routes (fastest, shortest, more fuel-efficient, etc.) and provide route avoidance choices (tolls, highways, etc.). Other features are slim.

It includes City Navigator NT maps for the United States (minus Alaska) and Puerto Rico. It does not cover Canada. The Nuvi 1100 is FM traffic and MSN Direct compatible, but it does not include a pricey traffic receiver and MSN Direct service will be discontinued on January 1, 2012. In all likelihood, the Nuvi 1100 may be priced similarly to a traffic receiver, and those shoppers looking for traffic features would be better off with another device.

It is compatible with Garmin Garage customization, allowing users to download car-shaped directional icons and new voices. The Nuvi 1100 also works with geo-tagged images, and it includes tools common on Garmin devices, such as a world travel clock, currency/unit converter, and calculator.

But for shoppers looking to get point A to point B on a budget, it has all they truly need.

The hubby bought me a TomTom Go630 for by bday this year. I love it. It not only does the turn by turn directions but it also has bluetooth connections that allowing me to connect to smartphone for hands free use.

I recently downloaded a Darth Vader voice so it's now Darth that's telling me where to go. I may reach my destination....but I'm not a Jedi yet.

funny i got a new phone the droid incredible and it has Google maps and navigator it is so accurate down to 6 meters plus real time traffic too..i havent touched my garmin since. :supercool:

Did your Garmin 330 stop connecting to satellites due to a problem with it or was it because Garmin disconnected it?

Andy,, "They" said it was just worn out,, no troubleshooting fixed it, even after I loaded the new software. oh well, I didn't want to spend 69 bucks on the updates anyway. Getting a new one was cheaper in the end.... All I needed is something simple, point A to point B.

bob,,, I have VZNav with Verizon, but if you loose signal, you loose nav. Been ther done that,.,, driving cross country. Plus I live and work in the boonies.
