Hi all! I recently picked up a 2007 ST Limited 4.6 4x4 that was in really good condition (for the age). No dents, rust or any glaring visible issues. It did need 3 (THREE!) wheel bearings and front brakes, but otherwise, a fine vehicle.

Background: I had the first year of the new Ranger (2019) Crew Cab 4x4 FX4. I absolutely LOVED that truck, but since I work from home (thanks pandemic) I was hardly driving it. I'd find myself driving it maybe once or twice on the weekends to do a Home Depot trip, but otherwise it was just sitting in the driveway gathering dust. I decided to sell it to take advantage of the grossly inflated vehicle prices (I got $3k less than I paid for it 4 years ago).

However, I still needed a vehicle and my preference was something along the same size as my 2019 Ranger (but without the price tag). The 2nd Gen Sport Trac fit the bill quite nicely. Yes, the bed is smaller, but for my needs it is fine. The bonus was the much larger back seat which my family appreciates. Bonus: The AC blows nice and cold!

I paid $8k for the truck, which had 107k miles on it and have put about $1k into it between the wheel bearings/brakes and some maintenance (replaced the fluid in both differentials and the transmission). I detailed it today and it honestly (except for the slightly dated style) it looks like it could pass for a newer vehicle.

In comparison to my Ranger, it rides and handles better and is super quiet. But for having a 4.6L V8, it does not have anywhere near the punch my Ranger did with the 2.3L Turbo (on paper they have very similar hp/tq numbers, but the Ranger had a much more balanced power band and plenty of low-end grunt). I do miss the modern conveniences the Ranger had (Touchscreen/ CarPlay, lane centering, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, etc...) But you know what I love more? About $25k in the bank after selling the Ranger and buying the Sport Trac! 😂

Happy to be here!

Thanks @curtis james here's a couple pics after detailing. If this belonged to any of you previously, those bearings were toast!

Nice looking ride! You did good! Wonder what caused those wheel bearings to fail? Any plans for accessories/upgrades?
I'm thinking of putting a bull bar up front on mine.

Congrats and welcome !!
