Aloha from Hawaii! I just signed up as a member today finally after using the site for the last couple of months after purchasing my 05' sport trac. My hat goes off to all those who make this site possible. What an awesome resource and close knit community we have here, something special indeed! Anyway, I purchased my sport trac the end of this past June after being in the market for a second vehicle, 05' black xls 2wd. Initially, I had my heart set on a Tacoma or Colorado crew cab but on that hot summer evening, after having dealt with 4-5 different salesmen at 3 different dealerships I was about to throw in the towel when my girlfriend and I decided to check out a client of hers who sold "fine" automobiles as his business card stated. He specialized in the sales of hummers, mercedes, BMWs, and all that frump. I thought to myself, I definitely aint gonna find anything here, but what have I got to lose? We drove up and he met us up front and escorted us to his show room. Looking around I saw mercedes vehicles all lined up, lexus, cadillac, BMW, Hummer, a sport trac, corvette....wait, a sport trac? The salesman looked at my bewildered face. You like that? he asked. Maybe? I said. I knew they existed and everything, never really paid attention to one before, never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined. The salesman continued: I just got this one in, here's the keys, take her for a spin. I contemplated for a moment, walked around her a few times, opened the doors and peeped in, opened up the hood, and checked out the undercarriage. Honestly, this was the nicest truck I've seen all day. I gave in and took her for a spin. Besides a cigarette burn in the middle of the rear seat.......... flawless! Beautiful glossy black paint, not a single dent in the body, 20,000 miles, everything works perfectly, engine super clean, lots of power, SOLD! The dealer even re-upolstered the rear seat free of charge!
I bought the truck totally stock, but ever since the day I brought it home, I caught this disease I refer to as mod-itis. I can't stop buying things for this truck no matter how hard I try! Check this list out, all done within the last couple of months. First I had a flowmaster single in dual out with chrome tips installed, then I purchased 20 in. Dale Earnhardt Jr. series octane rims gloss black finish with polished stainless lip wrapped in Kumho's, 1.5 inch billet spacers for the rears, blacked out the headights and clear corners, carbon fiber tailights, black powder coated billet tie down replacements via member eric larson, trashed all of the stock shocks and replaced them with rancho rs5000's, EE rear sway bar, razo pedals, red interior lighting, black chrome billet antenna, removed the roof racks, and most recently I added a k&n intake kit. The list will continue to go on as I have quite a few more projects planned.
I have never really been all that mechanically inclined before, I've done oil changes, changed out a starter, help someone jump start their car, so I'm proud to say I've installed all of the mods myself except for the flowmaster thanks to the awesome members of The Sport Trac Website. Doing so also saves me money on labor leaving me more money to buy more goodies!
As soon as I figure it out, I'll post pictures of the trac and ya'll will definitely be seing me around these neck of the woods! Time to go install my smoked 3rd brake light, Aloha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
