Why compare a vehicle built on a 1996-ish frame and engine to the latest in automotive technology? ;)

Very true Josh. If the new and improved models don't do much better then something 1996-ish, what is so improved about the new ones?

When the new Trac comes out, it will be a step above the rest. Independant suspension, I might add I am not looking foreward to, but essentially they are the same.

Boxed ladder frame, IFS and solid rear axle, shift on the fly conventional 4x4, and other things that are the similar. Where is the improvement?

Because Ford insists on still selling outdated technology. Or....because it's the competition. Outdated technology doesn't mean you're free from comparision, it means you had better hope the new stuff isn't as good.

The frame is more like '83, interior & suspension '95, engine/tranny '98.
