Maybe Im just a crank. I would like to see members we help. Update us, even if they havent solved the problem yet.
If they have done some things, with no results. It can give us old timers ideas of what next.
I post this with no malice. Just we hope to help. Sometimes the cure turns out to be what we dont know.

HAHAHAHAH, I get 5-10 Face book private messages a day, they NEVER start out with " how are you" "sorry to bother you" "do you have a second?"
Its Always, SO my truck, or this noise, How do I ???

50% of the time I NEVER get a thank you at the end or an update, and about 20% of the time they argue with my answer, and 40% of the time I NEVER get all the info to properly help !!!!

I have contemplated stopping helping..........

Yeah it is nice to hear feed back, but so few do it never to be heard from until more help is wanted.
The best is like talking to my wife. oops in the dog house now. This hickey or thing don't fit my truck ,or didn't fixit. Sorry the E S P is off.
The other boards are pretty much the same.
I seldom respond that is why my post count is low, sorry but that is just me.
If I see you broke down along the road side I will make an effort to stop, unless it is the expressway.

I am ashamed of myself for not replying as often as I should. You folks have helped me with so many things that I don't know where to start. Please be assured that we are all grateful for the advice you give.

As one of new members of this forum I will do my best to post updates. ;) in a perfect world they would be timely, but I usually post updates within the same week.

Hey Eddie, it's Phil. I hope you are doing well. I would like to say first that I really appreciate the help everyone has given me on this forum. When I first got this truck 9 years ago I knew nothing about cars. All the help from members, researching old posts and the projects section helped me get this truck to where it is today.

A little update to where it's at now.. I had a little accident this winter where I slid into a concrete pole. Completely messed up the custom front bumper cover, steel bumper, the fiberglass header panel and trans cooler. Had it fixed less than 24 hours later with a trip to the scrapyard. All in only cost $160 but I have a black bumper now. I don't think I'll bother painting it / customizing it. With the age of the truck, the amount of KMs I have (354000) as well as the rust forming on the hood, fender and rocker panel, I don't feel it's worth it. It still runs great so I intend to keep it mechanically sound and ride it out til it goes.

No major repairs lately, just a front brake job. I went with the powerstop truck and tow kit. New rotors, calipers and pads. This brake kit feels pretty good so far. I didn't like the idea of red calipers on my brown truck so I painted them orange instead. I also put a fresh coat of paint on my wheels. I went with gloss black this time.

Next at 360k I plan to do plugs / wires. Went with the SP500 plugs again and belden wires from Napa. Rear diff service and I'm due for a PCV valve so I'll do that too.

Here's my most recent picture of the truck. Still looks pretty good I think.. it's too bad about the bumper but hey, living in Canada with RWD isn't exactly the best

This photo is after a wash, polish and wax. Being that close to the truck for that long pointed out all the deficiencies with the rust forming.
I think when this truck goes, I'll search for a low mileage ST to swap the parts to.

Hi Phil, Your Trac looks real good. From what I see the black bumper cover looks good with the color and the black wheels. I like the frame rail delete also.
Like you and many others. I will keep mine, even if I buy something else. Our Gen1 Tracs still look contempary enough. I have had many dought that mine is a 2004. I hope that regular repair parts will be available for a long time to come. Sad that body parts are getting rare. Sad that if the frame rail bumper mounts get bent at the ends. Insurance companies want to total the Trac. If that ever happens to mine. I will make SS pipe bumpers for it..LOL..:p..JK.
Shame that Ford didnt stick with the concept, in the size of the Gen1.

Thank you! Black is definitely the best colour I could have found to make it look half decent. I got lucky, I found one that was fully painted, so if I ever do get it painted it'd be better than the textured lower. I've had the roof rack deleted since probably a year after I got it. I knew I wanted to make it more of a street truck than off-road.

You're right about them still looking contemporary. Sometimes people are shocked when I tell them it's a 2005. I think the projector headlights add to it looking more modern, but overall very nice design on Ford's part. I don't see much else on the road that I like more than the look of my own truck, except perhaps a newer red Adrenalin.

That is exactly why I didn't go through insurance. I knew it would've been written off immediately, especially with the high mileage. I don't believe I'll ever be ready to see it go.

It is disappointing about the ST being discontinued. The Ranger doesn't do it for me at all. Especially with the turbo 4 cylinder. I think my next truck will be a coyote F150. I've driven turbo cars and yes they are fun but how could they possibly be as reliable as a NA? I think the coyote is a well built motor that will stand the test of time. To be completely honest, I'm surprised my 4.0 and 5r55e are still holding up after all this time. When I bought this truck I didn't think it would last nearly a decade with no signs of failing

If I haven' said thanx, for any and all help, questions answered etc., I apologize. I do appreciate, and am neglectful sometimes!!!!!!

So, THANX !!!!!!!!

I thought the TOP GUYS giving out advice were larger than life and called them the Sport Trac God's. Thanked them
every-time for pointing my compass in the proper direction.
I never did have time for the folks who wanted to argue with each other....

No way, I will never call myself a god or guru or know it all.
I’m just glad I can help those in need.
We some times like common courtesy extended or an update on how it went.
That’s not too much to ask.
