For ten years, when I open the drivers door with the headlights on and the ignition off, I haven't been getting a beeping "headlights on" alarm. If the drivers door is opened with the ignition on, I do not get a "door ajar" light. Plus, the dome lights do not work when the drivers door is opened (at any time). I suspect a bad door ajar switch located on the latch. Does this make sense?
Also, my research shows that Motorcraft part number Sw1653 or Standard part number DS850 to be the correct replacement part. Am I right?
