Plans were available at those prices before the new health care law. The coverage may be slightly different but it doesn't change the fact that no doctors will be taking on new patients with these plans.

For healthy people who had opted for comparatively inexpensive health plans to only cover catastrophic illnesses or injuries, are finding out that their old healthcare plans do not meet the ObamaCare minimum coverage limits sniff test, so they have to upgrade their plans and pay higher premiums. That has also made many insurance companies to eliminate some of the cheaper plans even though they met the minimum ObamaCare standards so they could increase their profits. And despite the 80/20 rule, they know they can find ways to justify the higher costs.

Minnesota has the lowest rates for Obamacare insurance. I hope it rubs off for me in Wisconsin.

Just so we don't get too excited, I was getting decent coverage for less than $100/mo. in the private market which I assume would equate to the Bronze package this is bragging about. I don't know how well the coverages equate because I didn't look into what the "Bronze" package included but I was certainly adequately covered under that plan I had with a $10k deductible. It was much more than a "disaster" plan. Insurance for me really didn't get expensive until I added a woman/family plan.

Can the truly poor afford $90.59/mo? I doubt this changes anything for those that truly need help.

For those that choose to have a $150 cell phone plan, $100+ cable/satellite, and $250 car payment, but "can't afford" health insurance, this certainly isn't going to change the game. At least if these people decide $100 is too much, they'll get "taxed" (even though it was promised not to be a tax).

So, considering I had decent coverage at roughly the same price, what is the accomplishment of ObamaCare in Wisconsin? Or were base Wisconsin plans so much higher because of the ridiculous obesity rate? Cheese and rotten fish must make insurance tough to get, lol.

I think I'm Minnesotan. Reason: I'm in St. Croix County. St. Paul is 27 miles away. Milwaukee and Madison are a 5 hour drive away at 70 mph. The rates for St. Croix County will likely be similar to other Twin Cities Metro Area counties.

Ooops, my mistake. Don't know how I read an article about Minnesota and made Wisconsin references other than your being in Wisconsin. Maybe it's the long weekend I'm having and drinks of choice for the evening (don't tell my insurance provider!).
