Just got word that my son's Ranger he ordered is going to be built on 02 Jan 06. Not only is it a Monday, it's also the first day the factory will be running after the holidays :(

I sure hope they get it right.

Any ideas on how long it takes to get from one end of the assembly line to the other?

Robots are typically pretty reliable, regardless of day/of/week.

IIRC, 1 new vehicle can run off a line about every 45 seconds. The question is, how long is the line. If it is 100 vehicles long, about 75 minutes.

Besides, most of the individual parts in the truck have already been made, and they are sitting in bins and on trays awaiting final assembly.

I wouldn't worry much. Monday cars don't exist anymore. Robot malfunction cars do. And that can happen anytime. Albeit less frequent.

Don't worry,

Everybody will be there monday, they will want their holiday pay. IF they lay out of work, they will not get paid their holiday pay for new years day and possibly the Christmas week off so don't worry about that.

Have a good one

Bob

P.S. I build cars:cool:

I was born on January 2, 1967 which was a Monday. Going on 39 and still running strong. No rust. Original tires but a little bald on top. Yes it was possible that my mother, the doctor and/or the nurses may have been drunk, hungover or all of the above but so far, so far, so far, so far.....there have been no problems. I am sure that Ranger will be fine.

The Factory being a UAW facility will not be running on monday, we will be getting a holiday for new years day so we won't actually work until Tuesday. So by then all the hangovers will be over;)

Also the TCAP(Twin Cities Assembly Plant) facility has an excellent reputation for the Ranger builds. Hope this helps.

I build Tauruses, if you ordered a Taurus, I could help you.

Have a good one and thank you for buying a Ford Product.

Ahh....do build Sables there also? We DO need to talk about my 99 ;)

Is there anything else? :)

We used to build Sables, but we quit early this year to focus on Tauruses since we were switching to fleet builds. What was the matter with the Sable?. If it is the Tranny, that is a problem with the gen III models.(1996-1999) I had 3 of them, a 96, 97, and 98.

Again thanks for buying a Ford product. I just bought my wife a 2006 Freestyle. that car is sweet:D.

Heater cores on 96-99 Tauri/Sables are a HUGE problem. Wipers that have a mind of their own turning on and off for no reason while driving. Severe dashboard delamination above the driver's instrument panel. Also, vibration in the steering wheel is a standard feature on those years of Tauri/Sables.

We have a bunch of them in our fleet at work. They seem to run pretty good (except the above issues), despite the abuse and poor maintenance. Everything else seems to hold up well, and they are fairly comfortable and easy to drive. We have bunches with over 100k on them.

Gavin, there is a TSB on the "phantom" wipers..... replace the multifunction switch. Agreed on the heater cores too.... mine gets back flushed about every 4-6 months and I keep the bypass hose clamped off to increase flow through it, other wise it plugs up real fast. I love the car, but I will be replacing it come spring time with either a Trailblazer/Ascender or possibly an economy car (depends on what gas prices do.....)
