Going to Vegas in January thanks to work. (we hit a company goal that was set at the beginning of the year) We're staying at the Venetian. We are allowed to bring a spouse, significant other, family member or friend. I'm prob the youngest guy at work @ 26 and I'm taking my best friend. (I've learned it's not good to take "sand to the beach" so I'm bringing someone I know I can party with) leaving the lady at home. (she'll live) What should we do, not do. I know a lot of things are obvious but I always ask opinions from friends before I go anywhere. It's usually how I find out the good spots. A nice thing about this site is we have folks all over. Anyone got some good Vegas tips?

I usually go every 7 to 10 years just to see what has changed on the main strip. It usually takes me three days to see everything. Usually see a show of some type. Then I want to go home to reality.:D

sooooo many things to seee in Vegas... just bar hop check out O'learys on the strip it's not far from Treasure Island....there's midget that walks the bar and pours shots down your throat ..just sit down and throw in a few quarters  stay for about an hr and I guarantee you'll get at least 3 shots out of him!

if you have never been there..wow there is soo much! um...out by the Race track you can go see the Shelby Museum ..it's free tours monday thru fridays from 10 am to 4pm. That is where they are made. You can even go in the garage out back where a few are stored and they usually start one up while your there.

In Old down town, You gotta see Freemont Street. That really kewl...well I think it is...

that's free too....

Mirage for the volcano erruption, Treasure Island for the Pirate Battleship fight free outside

Inside Mirage for the Shark aquarium....free inside...

If you have never seen the Blue Man Group... book your tickets online and go seem them...THAT IS GREAT! around 80 a ticket..but check... it's at Venitian

The Comedy Stop is at the Tropicana... around 20.00 a ticket...

the list goes on.....

Enjoy! :)

If you want to kill acouple hours... There is a bar in the middle of New York New York that has a Dueling Piano Show... Its alot of fun... Go have some drinks and enjoy... Basically all you have to do is order acouple drinks and its free to hang out and watch... If you enjoy music you will love this!

Cheers

A local radio station( 97 rock) is having their "jet away get away" and it is to "Vegas Baby Vegas"! Been trying to be the 9th caller but the closest I've been was #1.

Just got back from a work/fun trip. Blue Man Group is playing at the Venetian and so was David Copperfield. Both good shows. Brush up on Blackjack skills. It's not hard, learn the basic rules, start at the smallest tables you can find and you can have a great time. Oh, and Olympic Garden, nuff said. Fast Lap Indoor Karting is cool. It's straight across 15 from Paris (very close). And, as was mentioned, Shelby museum and whatever else you can see at the track. Roller Coaster at New York New York.

My wife an I have gone to Vegas three times over the past 10 years and each time we come back with about the same amount of money we left home with, or even more. That includes paying for Airfare, hotel, rental car, food and various show tickets.

We usually go for 4-5 days, stay off the strip at the Orleans. I usually have everthing booked 2-3 months in advance and get great hotel rates and front row seats to most shows.

We won most of our money the first year at Caesar's Palace. The last two times we won a lot more at the Stratosphere. I play BlackJack and Craps, and my wife plays the slots. I will dable a little in video poker.

I have noticed that the Hotel rates and food/buffets have gone up a lot since we were there last.

Blue Man

Circus Solei (I thought it would be dumb, but very entertaining)

Strip Club-across the street from the Hard Rock Casino/Hotel, from what I have heard ;-)

There is a karting place about 20 mins out of Vegas that is a lot of fun as well.

Venetian is a very nice place. I've stayed at the Luxor, Bellagio, Ceasars and the Venetian. Won the most at the Luxor though...LOL

You're staying at the Venetian? Nice. Love that place.

Let's see... since you're going with a buddy, go to Cheetah's some night. Look it up (when you're not at work). It's the same kind of place as Olympic Gardens (someone mentioned it already).

Definitely go downtown to Freemont Street (also at night). If you like to play blackjack and you're on a budget, you'll be able to find tables that aren't $10 a hand, and you can even find single-deck blackjack down there still.

Check out the fountains at the Bellagio. Walk into some of the big places & check them out... some of them just have amazing lobby/shopping areas (you'll see what I mean when you get to the Venetian). Suggestions include Ceasar's Palace, the Bellagio and the Monte Carlo.

Shows are great, but they can be expensive. Check out the magazines in the room for what's going on in town while you're there. If you like magic, check out Penn & Teller's show at the Rio... it's not as expensive as some of the other shows, and they're way cool. A great place for show tickets is Tickets2Nite. "Offers same-day, half-price Las Vegas discount show tickets. Located behind the giant Coke bottle at 3785 Las Vegas Blvd., in Showcase Mall near the MGM Grand. They open at noon, but start posting show availability about 11:30. Arrive early for the best selection. Some people mistakenly think Coca-Cola buys tickets at full price and sells them at a discount as a promotion, but it does not. Instead, they get their stock from shows that still have seats available on the day they're performing."

Speaking of the Rio, eat at their buffett. All of the casinos have great food, but the Rio's is arguably the best.

The Rio is off the strip, but you can get a free shuttle from Bally's (next door to the Venetian... you can walk through from one hotel to the other, then simply go directly across Bally's casino to where the Rio shuttle is).

If you want to go anywhere else, get a cab. Don't bother renting a car. You'll want to drink everywhere you go, and there's no sense driving... it's easy to get cabs.

Basic gambling rules: Don't take more than you can afford to lose. Don't go with the idea of winning money in mind, just have fun. But don't play games you don't understand, either... a lot of the casino/hotels have a channel on TV dedicated just to explaining games, and many have free classes where they show you how to play. Be curteous to the dealers & pit bosses and you'll get more freebies... don't be abusive. Also be curteous to other players, but that kind of goes without saying. Tip the drink waitresses, bartenders and dealers. Keep an eye on your money. Have fun!

wow, the BLue Man group must have changed hotels. When I saw them last year they were at the Luxor...sorry for the confusion.
