There is a similar one at the entrance to Cheyenne Mountain. This is a much older underground city in Goreme, Turkey. Built by the early Christians to hide from Roman persecution.

There's not enough detail about the Rusiian tunnel system shown to tell whether people lived there. In the older city I posted people lived underground for years.
