BigBear, what in the world are you talking about? Fire alarm? What does that have to do with this case? I've searched every story I can find about this kid holding up a sign and getting suspended by the principal, and I can't find any reference to him committing any acts of vandalism or theft as you assert, to a fire alarm or anything else. The only act of vandalism/theft that can even possibly be considered relevant to this case that I'm aware of is the principal vandalizing/stealing his sign. If there are some additional facts about the case involving a fire alarm that I'm not aware of, please let me know--I don't claim to have 100% knowledge of the circumstances. But even if something like that is involved, I have to think that it's unrelated to the free speech portion of the case that the Supreme Court is involved in now.

Most pull stations, which is the "fire alarm" your speaking of, in public schools have a protected cover on them which sounds an alarm at its source. This is used to protect the actual fire alarm device and to scare away vandals. Opening or removing that device does not set off the building fire alarm. I'm sure that's what he removed because removing the pull station itself is very difficult without the proper tools. So technically he could not be charged with a false alarm but it would definitely be considered vandalism.
