Weight is a huge factor in any real sports car. The Elise has cut back on all but the essential amenities to bring its weight to under 2000 lbs. The fact that a car with a four-cylinder 190 hp engine can accelerate to 100 mph in less than 13 seconds is impressive to me.

At 150 mph, it really doesn't matter what vehicle you wreck in.

Well...you got me there.

Sport Compact Car did a chop on some small car like a Tercel or small Nissan. To get the car into the 13's in the quarter mile the cut the car in half. It had one seat, no hood, no roof, no doors, no fenders. It was choped up. IIRC, it finally hit 13.5 seconds.

The car was ready for the junkyard when finished.

I guess that is the route Ford is going with the SVT Trac. With only 390 HP it should be faster then a Ram SRT with the Viper engine because it weighs less. Add AWD, and you get traction right from the starting line. No chance of botching the starting line with a massive burn-out.
