cops should be able to blindly shoot 50 rounds into a car. That's reasonable.
47 rounds into someone. Reasonable.
Storming the wrong apartment, flashbanging an old lady, killing her, reasonable.
Shoving a plunger up a mistaken suspect's ass, totally reasonable.
Breaking down someone's door unannounced getting shot, then unloading on an old lady totally reasonable. They could have at least flashbanged her to kill her first.
Especially reasonable to shoot a southerner with a playstation controller in his hands because all southerners have guns and dangerous dogs in their homes.
Hell, it's been so bad that there are documented cases of cops shooting black kids who tried to help them, cops shooting other cops because they were black, cops chasing down their own partner and beating them because they were mistaken for a black suspect.
I'll propose one more possibility, law enforcement thinking they are above the law. A "holier than thou" attitude where civilians are snubbed, and should not bother those hard working officers which are hanging out in the precinct. Where you walk into a police station to report that your car has been broken into twice in one week, and the response is "park somewhere else".
I think racism is just one part of it. But when you mix it with the idea of them being heroes and above the law, and no one does anything about this inflated ego because everyone is willing to accept whatever they do, just because they have their lives on the line? Because their buddies will back them up no matter what? Because they have more legal power than you? Assault rifles everywhere, poor training, lax procedure, well hell, now my life is on the line. How would you like that in your neighborhood? You don't see the assault rifles in Grand Central Station going off accidentally, or breaches in department procedure, but if they did, would they aimlessly and recklessly fire a barrage of shots in a crowd of commuters?
Should we forgive the 10% of unfortunate incidents with the police? If only 10% of civilians commit crimes, should we forgive them?
It doesn't matter what uniform you wear, once you've abused it, you've disgraced it.
I know this much, when there is a firearm in any situation, it is bound to go wrong. When you do not require the police to announce themselves, it is bound to go wrong. If this continues the way it is going, we're going to see worse tragedies.
Read the article linked below, is that reasonable?
