I just have to vent a little.....Yesterday I go for my implant to be put in and my bone didn't heal around the post. So they had to litterally take a small hammer and spike type tool and bang into my jaw.....OUCH! With them cutting drilling and stitching me up, my face is now throbbing....BAD! I don't understand why if the dentist does such minor surgery which will result in a painful recovery they don't prescibe anything for pain managment. Dentist are normal people too, they feel pain also...Advil 3x a day just doesn't curb some of the throbbing for a 225lb man...

Sorry my face is f''n killing!:angry:

You need to see a new dentist. Mine is always watching to see if I am in pain, so he can give me something. Plus when he is if he thinks I might in the least bit need it he will prescribe a pain medicine. He has also told me that any time I need to, to call him. See another dentist.

I ALWAYS have to get the laughing gas, otherwise I pass out....LOL. But yeah, you should get a new dentist, they should be very concerned with your comfort level at all times.

Take 800 mg ibuprofen [4 200 mg Advils] 4x a day. That's what my endontist gives after root canal. This is the prescription dose that is called out on the drug info pages you can read on the net. Three 200 mg Advils a day just won't cut it in your case.

I'm having a cracked molar extracted at the end of the month. I was given several choices for it's replacement. One was an implant, but after hearing what was involved, I said screw that and I'm going for a bridge. Not looking forward to the "extraction".

It doesn't bother the dentist to give you that BIG bill, so don't feel like a pain in the a$$ calling him for some relief. If he doesn't do anything for you, then I would find a new dentist...

I agree with you Tom-- implant seems like a huge pain and never-ending medical bills/trouble. My oral surgeon said they would have to do some bone grafts to keep the post from breaking through to my sinus cavity. I said NO WAY.

Funny, but implant estimate was $2700, but bridge estimate is $2600. I just left the hole. What the hell? I live in the Ozarks... :D

Joycie, Darrel hit the tooth right on the head, new dentist. btw just got home from my dentist, lol.

Here is a short story about a late friend of mine who was a tv repair guy also.

He was doing a tv service call for his own dentist and told him that he had to take the tv chassis back to the shop for repair. The work gets done after an est. and he brings it back a few days later and the dentist's wife says, wow $150 for the repair, what was wrong? So my buddy holds up a shorted diode, which is about 3/8 in. long, and says this was the problem. She says $150 for that? he replies, yeah it's just about the size of a filling.
