So about a year ago I spent a week in Chelmsford MA while taking a redhat class nearby. I ventured into Vt a couple of times to get dinner and just kinda explore and I really liked the atmosphere up there. I have been thinking about relocating recently as I'm getting tired of NJ. It's too expensive, too crowded and I think I need a change of scenery. Anyone on here from VT? thoughts, comments.

so I checked all the member profiles for people who are registered and live in VT and it appears we don't have an ST presence there. So maybe I should move there and start one!

My sister lived there just after being married, her husband was in the Air Force. They LOVED it there.

Having been to both I *HAVE* to think it is better than NJ. ;)

I was stationed in the people republic of Mass when I was in the Army at Ft Devens, We would always go to NH or vermont, far less gov't rules. Vermont had a thing if you were a GI you could buy booze at 18 whereas with MA it was 21. Soooooo we did a lot of recon missions to VT. NH was the same way.

Y'all have a good one

A friend of mine works in NH at Seabrook but he lives in Maine. He said it had something to do with the taxes or some other expenses. Might be worth checking into.

Mainer here. New Hampshire is nice. I live about 1/2 hour from North Conway, NH. Taxes do suck in Maine and some Mainers do work in NH and live in ME. No sales tax in NH, but plenty of hard core taxes on other things....lodging last time I stayed in NH for bike week last year was I believe 7%.

When I was there last year alot of the people I met lived in NH and worked in Mass. They could get higher pay and I thought NH had no state income tax (I could very well be wrong on that)

Thanks for all the input

Yes, but did you ask them if they paid Mass state income tax? I bet they did, and most cross-staters don't get that money paid to the state of employment back, persay, but get it as a credit to the local state tax payments (recipricol so to speak), which typically means if your state of resident has no income tax, there is nothing to reciprocate and you simply pay tax to the state of employment.

Check it out if somehow this might apply to you and you are thinking of counting on it one way or the other.
