Take a look at this 2004 Trac, loaded, with 18K miles and a "Buy It Now" price of $9,000?

And the seller's other dozen or so auctions with the same ridiculously low "Buy It Now" prices (all about 1/2 book value).

What with the need to be pre-approved to bid, the sellers low feedback, the dozens and dozens of 1/2 priced cars, and the fact that seller states up front he won't be responding to any email questions makes it all sound fishy!

Maybe he is trying to scam Ebay by doing a side-deal with the bidders for the "remainder" of the auto price...you know, to avoid Ebay fees and taxes???

What gives?

I noticed some custom pin stripes and custom paint on the instrument panel and radio bezel. Overall, it looks to be in great shape. Wonder what the deal is...

Everything else under his feedback was done in Australia, now he is selling 1/2 price cars in the US AND he says "Don't contact me using the Contact the Seller link"?

Sounds WAY fishy to me. Probably someone who got his account hijacked.

edit: Every auction he has lists a different email as the "please use this instead" link. Definately a scammer.

And all the VINs are redacted (4444444444444, 11111111111111...). Seems this guy went to a lot of work to make the listings look legit, but still included a number of things that raise red-flags for the scammer-savvy.

Does he really think he can get away with this? That there are some poor schmucks out there that will get pre-qualified to bid, then paypal him several thousands of dollars?

His reason for asking not to use the Ebay link to the seller is lame too, Why can't he cleanup the supposedly full mailbox. Maybe someone should try using that link and see if someelse responds. Maybe Ebay itself should be notified if you feel this may be a fraud situation.

I too saw this and wondered the same thing...this guy has been re-posting this trac for some time now..I am curious to find out what the deal is

His feedback is low, around 50, mostly a buyer of ordinary small crap, and going back to early june.

I suspect as others that it is a legit eBayer whose account has been hijacked by someone hoping to pull a quick scam. I suspect if I tried hard enough I could match the photos in the listings with past completed auctions.

I have reported this to eBay.

I would bet step #1 of the pre-qual process is "Give me your credit card and bank account numbers so I can make sure you have enough money."

Looks like he edited the auctions... Sais that he was hijacked and did not list the items...

Justice prevails...maybe it WAS my email that did it. I can only hope.

Oh, and for a giggle, look at the names (and one of the pics) for this guys auctions now...

This happens all the time. Someones account gets hacked, paypal is redirected to another address and bogus auctions fly up. I almost bought a ATV for $1500 that should have been about $8k but it was a scam.
