what the hell!?!??!! i was washing my truck a couple days ago and kept noticing something white floating down the driveway... so yea.. ITS THE PAINT OFF MY ROOF! anyone have this happen? btw, its an 04 adrenalin. any recall on this? or am i gonna have to "find" other issues w the paint and make a claim on my insurance?:angry::angry::angry:

Boy, that sucks! I'll have to keep an eye on my roof. Go back to your dealer and ask about it. Sometimes they can help. I don't think ins. will pay for it.

Many, heck almost EVERY manufacturer had this issue at 1 time or another...

Chevy, Toyota, Honda, Nissan....

There was an early issue with the 2001 ST and others that had this issue....

Check with the dealer to see if it is covered under an extended coverage or some sort of TSB..

I have an 01 with this issue. I noticed it around 04 with about 40k on it. The dealer called a rep. from Dearborn to look at it,he was no help. He said there was a problem they were aware of but it was not a safety issue. He refused to help in anyway.The FORD rep had the balls to say " If it bothers you that much,then don't wash it for about 10 days and trade it in and let somebody else worry about it" I asked him that if I were to do that ,do you think it would be for another Ford vehicle?

It sounds to me that if the paint is flaking off, that you would have noticed a paint problem by now??? Unless of course you never waxed the roof of the truck, then you probably would not have noticed it.



It something easily overlooked on a taller vehicle. I even took my 2001 ST to a detail shop and they failed to wax the roof?? I went back the next day and raised hell with them. They waxed the roof and gave me $40 back for my trouble.



As for recalls??? Ford is not going to recall a vehicle for paint after 5+ years....even if there were paint problems on the 04 models. Most paint issues are only handled within the first year, and most runs, drips and errors in the first 30 days.

Mine has faded away very badly on top of the cab. It's been doing it for quite some time now... I figured Ford wouldn't do squat about it, so I just let it go. It looks like total crap, but oh well...

i've found this on my '04 adrenaline too, just under the window on the drivers side door. it's a thin strip (1/8") peeling all the way across, but just the clear coat. i'm going to tape the area off, hit it with a green scotch brite pad to remove anything that is loose, then apply some touch-up clear coat. i might do some hand-polishing, but I'll prob just wait until I find someone i can trust to buff the whole truck out.

trucks outside since ive gotten it. i bought it in 07 as a lease turn in. ive seen the roof before while loading my bike in the back, but never saw this.. these are some pretty big flakes.. i had my buddy from the body shop look the truck over real good. between that and the microscopic rust spots ALL over the truck, hes going to take care of if through my insurance. i only have a $200deductable so i cant beat it. hes going to repaint the entire truck and bill the ins. i'm dropping it off tuesday morning. thanks guys i appreciate all your help.

I've never heard of insurance covering paint unless it was damaged in an accident or vandalism.....
